At HeyStaks we recognize the importance of privacy to Internet users and we are committed to assuring that the privacy and confidentiality of visitors to this site are respected and preserved at all times. Unless you give us explicit permission, we will not share any personally identifiable information with third parties for any purpose, unless required by law to do so.

Collection, Use, Disclosure of Information

Each HeyStaks user is associated with an account and in this account we store your username, password, and email address; if you upload a profile picture we will also store that. We need this information to provide you with access to your HeyStaks account and so that we can produce your personal HeyStaks homepage. We will not make this information available to third parties.

As you use HeyStaks you will hopefully create search staks and share them with others. HeyStaks needs to maintain a record of these staks and the people you share with. Unless you pause HeyStaks (from your toolbar), HeyStaks will also record your search queries and the results you select, along with the active stak at the time of the selection. As you tag pages with terms, this information is also stored in your appropriate stak. All of this is necessary so that this information can be shared with your other stak members as they use the system.

HeyStaks does record individualized search/tagging information. It does this because its relevance engine uses a sophisticated technique to model the search reputation of individual users in order to make better result promotions. This information is never used in any way that discloses your identity or the search activities you have engaged in to another HeyStaks user. For example, the HeyStaks activity feeds are fully anonymised records of stak search activity. This means that HeyStaks does not disclose information about which users have used which queries or selected particular results.

Our philosophy is that your HeyStaks information is your own -- we are simply here to help you to search more productively -- and as such we will not make any of this information available to third parties, or license it to advertisers etc.

Use of Cookies & IP Addresses

HeyStaks uses cookies in the normal way, to authorize users at login time and to manage user-sessions on the HeyStaks search portal.

We may use your IP address to help diagnose problems you might have with the service or to generate aggregate statistical reports. We may use aggregate visitor data to prepare publicly displayed reports regarding the traffic on the HeyStaks search portal, activity arising from use of the HeyStaks toolbar, site popularity rankings and site enhancements based on this visitor data. Your IP address will never be publicly exposed in these reports or in any other form.

Data Security/Integrity

HeyStaks follows strict security procedures in the storage and disclosure of information that you have given us, to prevent unauthorised access in accordance with Irish data protection legislation. Data stored on HeyStaks’ servers is treated as proprietary and confidential and is not available to the public. Only authorized employees and contractors have access to the data you provide and that access is limited by need. Our employees and contractors who have access to this data have agreed to maintain the confidentiality of this information. In order to maintain the accuracy of our database, you can check, update, or remove your personal details on the HeyStaks website or by a notified email to info@heystaks.com.

Children

HeyStaks understands the importance of protecting childrens’ privacy in the online interactive world. Parents who wish to allow their children access to and use of the Website/Services should supervise such access and use.

If we materially change our practices in handling personally identifiable information, as described in this statement, we will notify you by posting the changes on this Privacy Statement at least 30 days prior to their implementation.
