Activity Feed
The Activity Feed helps you to keep track of your own searches and the searches of others within the HeyStaks community. It's like a news feed where each entry represents an individual HeyStaks action. For example when you select a result for a query this will be posted as an event. When you share a Stak or a result or a page with a friend this will also be posted as an event. These events are always anonymous and you are only entitled to see events that are generated in public Staks or in private Staks where you are a member.
Your personal home page on HeyStaks includes a short sample of your most recent HeyStaks activities, drawn from the Staks that you have created or joined. By selecting the Activity menu on the main HeyStaks menu bar you can view a more detailed activity feed. You will notice that there are separate tabs to allow you to look at different types of activity feeds. For example you can select the All tab to look at the public activity across all of HeyStaks. Alternatively you can select the Personal tab to just look at your own search activities. Or you can select the Buddy tab to review all of the activities for you own search buddies.
You'll also notice that activity feed entries have some buttons beside them. These allow you to edit your activities and one way to keep your Staks up to date. For example, by clicking on the delete button
you can delete the activity feed entry. If this entry corresponds to a result selection in a given Stak then deleting the activity feed entry will remove this result selection from Stak. You can also copy a result from one Stak to another by selecting the copy button
for an appropriate event in your activity feed.
Search Staks
HeyStaks is all about the search Staks. You can create search Staks using the HeyStaks toolbar and you can find and join new Staks on the HeyStaks Search Portal.
On your HeyStaks home page you will see a short-list of the Staks that you have created or joined and you can select the "Staks" menu in the main HeyStaks menu bar to review a full list of all your Staks.
You'll notice some buttons beside each Stak entry. For example, by selecting the delete button
you can remove a Stak from your profile; the Stak will be deleted from your Stak list on the portal and also from your toolbar. You can also click on the share button
to share a Stak with a friend or colleague.
The HeyStaks Search Portal also helps you to find new Staks that you might be interested in joining; see "Searching for Staks" below.
Search Buddies
The Search Buddies section shows you all of the other people that you are connected to in HeyStaks. When you invite someone to be your search buddy it means that you can check out the staks that they have created and joined - if you have common interests, then you might want to join some of your buddy's public staks so that as you search you will get recommended the webpages that your buddy has liked.
When you look at another HeyStaks user's buddylist, the add button
beside each of their buddies lets you invite that person to be your buddy too. If you don't find their Staks as useful as you thought you would, no problem - you can remove a buddy from your list by clicking the delete button
.
Query Cloud
The Query Cloud shows the most popular query and tag words that HeyStaks users are searching with within a given Stak. As you search with the HeyStaks toolbar you will notice your Staks' query clouds filling up more and more, and changing shape as your interests change over time.
The cloud describes the Stak that you are currently viewing, so if you are viewing your "Salsa" Stak the query cloud will show all of your salsa-related query terms. If you click on a word in the query cloud you will be shown all of the result in the current Stak that have been found or tagged using that term.
Invite a Friend
HeyStaks helps you to find more relevant and interesting results as you search by letting you connect with people that share your interests. To get the most out of HeyStaks you can invite your friends, family, and colleagues to search with you by entering emails in the Invite a Friend box.
New & Online
This section lists the newest members and lets you see who else is searching with HeyStaks. This is a great way to start exploring the HeyStaks community and find searchers that share your interests.
